Are you smiling? Or thoroughly disgusted? Many of these foods hold pleasure moments for us, whether it was the food itself or the fond memories surrounding the food. It may have been, or is hard, to give them up. Hence, this month's newsletter is not about the benefits of a particular food or warning about another, but to have us each, individually and collectively, applaud the steps we have made in improving our diets. And hopefully encourage us to continue to fight the good fight. We are worth it.

Sincerely,

 Erika Muhammad

P.S. I would like to thank the members that shared their stories with me. Thank You very much.

Why and How Did You Kick Your Junk Food Habit?

Of all the members that I polled not one person said that it was one particular thing (book, documentary, illness, etc) that changed their eating habit. The most common themes were age, change in taste buds, increase in knowledge, a desire to eat healthy, and learning how to cook.

All agree that it is a gradual transformation, it does not happen over night. And that they are still a work in progress.

Now How?no junk food

Most found substitutes for their favorite junk foods. For instance, instead of eating Cheetos they ate Barbara's, which helped to alter their taste buds. While some switched from Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches to Raw Honey and Sunflower Butter sandwiches.

Others began to shop at natural food stores so a lot of the junk food they were accustomed to was no longer available.

While others began to cook their own meals instead of eating out.

What I gathered from the responses is that we should continue to educate ourselves, and each other, about the proper physical (and mental) food to eat because the seeds we plant in each other eventually take root and create beautiful flowers.

What is Currently Your Favorite Health Food (or Snack)?

God willing this list will give you some easy alternatives when you are thinking about regressing.

Muhammad Farm's Calendar
"We Must Become Productive"

Let us support the production on Muhammad Farms through our Ministry of Agriculture Annual Calendar. Wheat has been planted, 470 acres, and is being harvested and milled for our benefit. The whole wheat, in its original non-enriched form, is a very good source of all nutrients naturally produced in wheat, like manganese and iron. Let us be found supporting that which supports our independence.
